Further to my earlier post about the recent Caerphilly Networking Event (follow link to see earlier post) Simon from Profession Direct provided lots of business News about the New City Deal and how it will affect the South East Region of Wales.  It was too much info too include in my event review so I have decided to list it in this separate blog post.

Simon provide the networkers with the following business news and info about the aims and objectives of the new Monthly Caerphilly Business Networking Events as well as what is happening in general in the South East Wales region.

On the new Caerphilly Networking Events

“We are looking to create a group of leading local business owners, to help each other navigate through business challenges, create an inclusive networking group and provide introductions to other business looking for their services and assist with network marketing.  This could entail promoting each others articles via social media, Linkedin, Facebook, etc.”

“Everyone of you have at least 250+ connections, this means we have the reach of 10,000+ potentials customers and business partners in this room.”

“We intend to meet every few weeks or month (still to be agreed), for a round table meeting to discuss our businesses challenges, provide advice  and assist open doors to other businesses.  You are more than welcome to bring along guests and visitors.”

“Assisting each other grow in this respect should be effective and fun.”

On business in General in the South East Region

An interesting fact is that 96% of businesses joining such an event have proven to generate business and experiened growth in their business over a 12 month period.

Our launch comes at a pivotal time for the South East Wales Region. A time when the launch of the Cardiff Capital Region – City Deal official gets sign off in 2017, subject to sign off by WAG.

The launch of our business networking event, along with the launch / sign off of the Capital deal is a great time for the region boosting, wealth for society, creating opportunities for business and supply chain.

Are set to benefit from a total of £1.22 billion, of which £734m has been ring fenced to provide in the inter regional metro, connected tickets, like some of you may have seen in France and other connected / digital cities.

Furthermore WAG are looking to create the world’s first compound Semi- Conductor cluster in South Wales.

This aims to create 25,000 new jobs for the area, boost supply chain

This investment is expected to lever a further £4bn from the Private Sector.Some important statistics:

Population 1.5m in South East Wales

If we were to take South East Wales out of the equation, Wales would lose 75% of GDP.
