About Bed Surge:
Just how much money could you make by giving up your home when there is a big event in town, such as Cardiff Final 2017 Championship League.
Two Cardiff-based entrepreneurs realised they could capitalise on the value of their city-centre flat, providing housing to continental football fans for over £1,000 a night and thought, “Why stop here and now others must want to do this?”.
Friends, Fabrizio Gulino 23 and Aadil Mukhtar 28, had a eureka moment when they realised that the supply and demand of hotel rooms during the final in June had gone bonkers – the final one of the largest ever sporting events to come to town, meant that their small home made a whopping £3,500 for a mere three-night let.
The two friends invested their new-found wealth into BedSurge.com – a new type of online letting agency that actively seeks out “surges in demand for properties worldwide” and then proactively seeks to attract more properties onto the market, using enthusiastic marketing ranging from door to door knocking to Facebook advertising.
Aadil, a former product consultant at Google, uses his knowledge of dynamic pricing to place the properties in ‘blocks’, and in doing so replicate a hotel’s ability to maximise returns as demand increases.
“Basically,” Aadil explains,“if the stock we have available is selling quickly our technology can calculate the data to work out the true value of the owners living space. Thus, optimising the benefit householders who have given us access to their homes; an individual can’t do this acting alone. This is why our proposition is unique – we achieve the critical mass of properties necessary for dynamic pricing.”
Aadil adds, “While the property owners get to sit back and relax during the event, we handle everything, access to the residence, providing the upscale hotel-equivalent customer service, and insurance protection. It’s a win for us, and a win for the property owners”. I am reaching out to tenants and landlords alike to make sure they don’t miss out on this huge opportunity. Seriously, this could pay for the holiday of a lifetime and make the Welsh capital a winning destination.

Fabrizio, a Sicilian native who speaks fluent Italian and possesses extensive experience in the hospitality industry, will focus on the customer experience aspect while co-founder, Aadil, who earned an MBA at Cardiff University, will be the tech brain behind the venture. The two are determined to secure 400 extra properties to alleviate the overwhelming demand for accommodation during one of Europe’s biggest football extravaganzas!
“I realised what we needed to do” reflected Fabrizio, “we had to create a hotel-like experience for both the property owners and the travellers”.
“For example ” added Fabrizio, “we have a deal with a hotel linen provider so that the guest experience can be as close as possible to staying in an upscale hotel. To get more properties onto the market when a ‘Surge’ occurs we need to householders to give up their often family home, we make that easy and profitable. It’s a niche nobody else is focused on, encouraging families to sublet properties when prices are crazily high”.
When the final guests leave Cardiff on the 4th of June, the focus will immediately shift to whenever and wherever the next lucrative peak in hotel prices will occur worldwide.
Aadil, who was born in Kashmir, has decided to make the UK his home, believing it to be an ideal location to build a global technology company. The tech brain-box announced, “BedSurge.com will be a truly global company ready at the drop of a hat to travel to wherever in the world a pilgrim or a desperate football fanatic requires a roof over their heads (be that shelter a stable or a mansion).”
Already, a Gulf-based financier has expressed interest in investing in the new venture.
“Simply but “, declared Fabrizio, “This business is driven by simple arithmetic. The Principality stadium holds close to 75,000 spectators while we have little over 5,000 hotel rooms.”
BedSurge.com can be contacted in the following ways and is willing to speak with anyone who could make Cardiff Final 2017 a better experience for travelling sports fans, irrespective of the size of their property or terms of occupancy.
Our goal is to be the World’s Largest Virtual Hotel and it starts right here, in Cardiff.

Further to my earlier post about the recent Caerphilly Networking Event (follow link to see earlier post) Simon from Profession Direct provided lots of business News about the New City Deal and how it will affect the South East Region of Wales. It was too much info too include in my event review so I have decided to list it in this separate blog post.
After welcoming Members / visitors new and old to the Caerphilly Business Networking Event held at Caerphilly RFC.
Simon provide the networkers with the following business news and info about the aims and objectives of the new Monthly Caerphilly Business Networking Events as well as what is happening in general in the South East Wales region.
On the new Caerphilly Networking Events
“We are looking to create a group of leading local business owners, to help each other navigate through business challenges, create an inclusive networking group and provide introductions to other business looking for their services and assist with network marketing. This could entail promoting each others articles via social media, Linkedin, Facebook, etc.”
“We are not prescriptive with a strict agenda or ask you to pitch your business to all 40+ guests, there are no rules on business introductions or a restriction on who you can and cant do business with in this room.”
“We want you to get as much out of it as you want.”
“Everyone of you have at least 250+ connections, this means we have the reach of 10,000+ potentials customers and business partners in this room.”
“We intend to meet every few weeks or month (still to be agreed), for a round table meeting to discuss our businesses challenges, provide advice and assist open doors to other businesses. You are more than welcome to bring along guests and visitors.”
“Assisting each other grow in this respect should be effective and fun.”
On business in General in the South East Region
An interesting fact is that 96% of businesses joining such an event have proven to generate business and experiened growth in their business over a 12 month period.
Our launch comes at a pivotal time for the South East Wales Region. A time when the launch of the Cardiff Capital Region – City Deal official gets sign off in 2017, subject to sign off by WAG.
The launch of our business networking event, along with the launch / sign off of the Capital deal is a great time for the region boosting, wealth for society, creating opportunities for business and supply chain.
The following local authorities of :
- Caerphilly BC
- Rhondda Cynon Taff
- Blaenau Gwent
- Merthyr Tydfil
- Vale of Glamorgan
Are set to benefit from a total of £1.22 billion, of which £734m has been ring fenced to provide in the inter regional metro, connected tickets, like some of you may have seen in France and other connected / digital cities.
Furthermore WAG are looking to create the world’s first compound Semi- Conductor cluster in South Wales.
This aims to create 25,000 new jobs for the area, boost supply chain
This investment is expected to lever a further £4bn from the Private Sector. Some important statistics:
Population 1.5m in South East Wales
If we were to take South East Wales out of the equation, Wales would lose 75% of GDP.
We hope to see you at the next Caerphilly Business Networking Event, booked for Tuesday 17th of January, 2017 – please click link to register for free online.
See you there.

Tuesday night was the first of what will become a regular monthly Caerphilly Networking Event held at Caerphilly RFC in conjunction with Constructaquote.com
This is what happened at the Caerphilly Business Networking Event which took place on Tuesday 29th of November 2016, from 5pm to 7pm.
From 5pm to 5.30pm – We had half an hour of Free Style Business Networking:
From 5.30pm to 6.00pm – We had a speach from our guest keynote speaker Todd Kelman, MD from the Cardiff Devils, who gave a great presentation about looking after your repeat customers (in their case season ticket holders), and making sure that all customers, but especially your loyal customer, have a great experience.
6.00pm to 6.30pm – We also heared from our hosts, Simon Hughes & Phil Emanuel from Caerphilly RFC & Kevin Buchler from Constructaquote.com:
Simon from Caerphilly RFC (& Profession Direct) discussed the aim of the Caerphilly Networking Events, which was to bring the businesses of Caerphilly and surrounding areas closer to each other to help improve the area and the South East Wales region in general, which he mentioned already counted towards 75% of Wales GDP.
Simon also mentioned the recent Cardiff City Deal and how much money was going to be invested in to the South East Wales region and how this investment could really help to improve the area and impact business for all those who get involved in the Region.
Phil Emanuel from Caerphilly RFC (& The Business Protection Company) added more about the Partnership between Caerphilly RFC and Contructaquote.com and introduced Kevin from Constructaquote.com .
Kevin Buchler from Constructaquote.com spoke about his aims and goals for the Caerphilly Networking Event and their Partnership in General with Caerphilly RFC:
– attract businesses and professionals who share SME’S as same target market
– grow their businesses through engagement with other businesses, securing relationships, networking and joint promotion of their products and services
– personal approach versus ‘cold’ online spamming via sm and Internet
– people deal with people
– instigates good Return on investment, at the same time contributing towards promoting and assisting sports clubs, putting something back into the community
– boosting business in Wales
The Caerphilly Business Networking Event then finished with some formal business networking around the large round tables and some fabulous food from the Free buffet.
There were also some pictures taken of some of our networking event attendees:
Even myself Mike from UK Sales & Marketing Agency MA Consultancy & UK Web Design Agency 333 Websites (& this WelshBiz Blog), got in on the act by being featured 2nd from the left in the above picture and partner to the Event Paul Smolinski from Introbiz Business Network was also featured in the centre of the picture above, in the top left corner!
Air aim for the Next Caerphilly Business Networking Event is to get another Sports / Business themed keynote speaker and to get everyone who attended our first event to attend again and bring someone else with them.
Please register to attend the next Caerphilly Business Networking Event online now and feel free to invite one or many of your business associates, suppliers, customers or partners to our next event.
See you there.
